The Solution
Investment Program Resources (IPR) was formed to help small to mid-size community financial institutions (banks and credit unions) offer retail investment and financial planning services to their customer base.  Most community banks focus on retail deposit gathering and lending activities.  They either do not offer investment services or use the products as a last resort for money walking out the door to another institution or brokerage firm.  Many community banks or credit unions that start investment services as part of their product mix find that they do not have the expertise to manage the business.  The staff in place may be ill-suited to run the business, making bad product and hiring decisions.  Staff turnover and disgruntled customers may follow.  Then the bank or credit union looks for help….
